Whats App for Android has Mysteriously Disappeared from Google Play

Sharing is caring!

WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, confirmed on Saturday that the application was now back in the Google Play Store after its sudden disappearance. New users can download the application to Android phones simply by typing WhatsApp in the Google Play Store search box. Unfortunately, the reason for the brief absence remains unclear.

WhatsApp is one of PlayStore’s most popular applications and is used by billions of people worldwide. That is why this new news is strange.

WhatsApp for Android ‘disappears’ from Google Play

WhatsApp for Android has mysteriously disappeared from PlayStore. This is strange because it is one of the main ways to install the popular Messenger on your phone. However, for any reason, it is accessible through this link.

At the moment, we have no reason to explain that. This may be Google deleted the application or WhatsApp deleted for some reason.

It should be noted that the other applications of WhatsApp, WhatsApp for Business and WhatsApp Wallpaper are online in PlayStore.

Fortunately, you can still install WhatsApp for Android outside the Google Play Store through repositories such as APK Mirror or the official WhatsApp website.

WhatsApp is mysteriously disappearing from the Play Store

We will keep you informed as soon as we have confirmation of this development.

The reason for his sudden disappearance is still unclear, but his brother, WhatsApp for Business, is still on the Google software distribution platform, as revealed by the WhatsApp WABAInfo package series.

Since then, TNW has confirmed that the application is no longer available in the Play Store in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Interestingly, although it does not appear in searches, WhatsApp is still available through its dedicated Play Store page. Despite the disappearance, WhatsApp seems to work for now.

What’s up with WhatsApp? Messaging app disappears from Google Play Store

For registration, you can still obtain the application from third-party sources by downloading the APK. This, of course, opens a new Pandora box and many opportunities for hackers to distribute malicious instances of Facebook’s confidentiality messenger.

The problem seems to be limited to Android and does not affect iOS users. Meanwhile, it seems that WhatsApp is also not available in third-party application stores, such as Huawei AppGallery and Samsung Galaxy Store. However, I’ll be honest, since I’ve never used any of these stores, I wouldn’t even know if there was ever one.

We have contacted Facebook and Google for more comments and will update this article accordingly. Until then, sit back and try not to download WhatsApp from unclear sites.

Update at 12:15 UTC, October 11: a WhatsApp spokesperson contacted TNW to inform us that the application is now backed up in the Play Store. Unfortunately, the reason for the brief absence remains unclear. Tip: You must restart (close and reopen) Google Play for WhatsApp to reappear in searches.
